MMSD to Issue Certified Climate Bond

In 2020, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District will issue a “green bond” to help finance green infrastructure, watercourse improvements, wastewater conveyance and treatment projects. The District’s 2035 Vision seeks to capture the first 0.5 inch of rainfall that falls on impervious surfaces, the equivalent of 740 million gallons of stormwater storage. The bond will be the first ever Certified Climate Bond for a combined wastewater and stormwater program in the United States.
